A mobile games glossary from the gantry
Short definitions for terms that show up on Play listings and in our notes.
- Gantry
- Our desk word for the three-app shortlist we keep in one place — not a store shelf we control.
- Listing card
- The public Google Play page for an app: rating, reviews, downloads, content rating, price, and update date.
- IAP
- In-app purchases. Optional paid items inside a free or paid app, as disclosed on the store card.
- Contains ads
- Play’s disclosure that the app shows advertising. We repeat it when the card shows it; we do not invent it.
- Content rating
- Age guidance on the listing (for example Everyone or Everyone 10+) plus any printed content notes.
- Download band
- The install counter Play prints as a range such as 5M+ or 500M+, not an exact user census.
- Checked date
- The day this desk last re-read the live cards. Current stamp: 22 October 2026.
- noopener nofollow
- Link attributes we put on outbound store buttons so the new tab is isolated and the link is not treated as an endorsement signal.
